If you are an English speaker and you can find at least one Spanish speaker to practice with (either in-person or online), then YES!!! Speaking Spanish is not only possible, it’s not nearly as difficult as you might think. If you’ve struggled in the past, it probably has more to do with the teaching method than with your innate ability to learn languages. You CAN learn Spanish. You CAN do it quickly. And I can help get you there. 

I am a firm believer that Spanish should fit into your life and not the other way around. I do expect you to dedicate about 20-30 minutes each day to Spanish (watching the lessons, doing the workbook exercises, etc.), but the rest of your Spanish practice will fit seamlessly into your day. I’ll have you speaking Spanish at least five times a day, but it won’t cost you any extra time. Promise!

Programs like DuoLingo, Rosetta Stone, Pimsleur, etc. are all great. But they are woefully incomplete. They leave you with what I like to call “all tile and no grout”. You learn a lot of vocabulary, but you never get the right type of practice to start putting those words together in complete, comprehensible sentences. My course emphasizes vocabulary and conversations that are relevant to your daily life. Because the topics are important to YOU (and not a random list of words), your brain remembers them much better. 

Me too! I took Spanish in high school and realized it didn’t work when I couldn’t even find my way out of an airport on one of my first trips to Mexico. Almost no one learns a foreign language in high school or college because the teaching methods used are, for lack of a better phrase, absolutely terrible. My course is not like high school or college. I don’t provide you with boring vocab lists or make you do endless grammar exercises. From the very first class YOU are in charge of the words you want to learn and I become your enthusiastic  guide in getting you to say the things you want to be able to say. 

No and Nooooo!!!! As you’ll discover when we dive into the brain science behind language learning, children definitely do NOT learn languages faster than adults. It’s an illusion and I’ll explain why in the course. Also, you’re not too old! One of the key things that distinguishes the human species from other mammals is our ability to communicate via speech. Basically, our brain is DESIGNED to learn, use, and remember language. You were made for this!!! And it doesn’t matter how old you are or how many languages you want to learn.
